PARAW REGATA OF ILOILO

Did you ever seen a fabulous parade of colorful sailboats called Vintas?, a traditional boat rarely found only in the Island of Mindanao. Commonly made only by the people from this part of the country like the Bajau and Moro group like  Tausog. It has a colorful banners symbolizes the rich and colorful living of the people in this island.
In Philippines you can find a festival where you can see the stunningly and beautiful parade of Vintas.
Iloilo was introduce by my friend Rene Rain Jabican.
Every 3rd week of February a festival called Paraw Regata in Iloilo City is held. The oldest craft festival in Asia and the largest sailing event in the Philippines.
At the Villa Beach Arevalo, Ilo Ilo, City, hundreds and maybe more Vintas are displayed at this special event, all colorful and and some are hand maded.
The Iloilo Paraw Regata is open to all seaworthy Paraw solely depend on wind for its power or motion, subject to the specific requirements and qualifications for each category. A sailboat entry can be of any size and will be classified according to the categories.(base on rules and regulations of the event)
Paraw owners or their authorized representative who wish to participate in the classic  sea regatta must submit their entries to all tourism offices of Iloilo, Iloilo City, Guimaras and to its provincial office.
This coming year, it will be opened to international sailboats and it will surely make the festival more fun.
